COMMENDEE 2018-19: Adam is the Project Co-ordinator for the Merseyside Offender Mentoring project. He receives a Commendation for his outstanding leadership and commitment in developing a project delivering vital support, as well as measurable reductions to re-offending, across the Merseyside region.
Winners by setting (since 2012) - Prisons
COMMENDEE 2018-19: Micky, a Prison Officer for over twenty years, works at the HMP Grendon Therapeutic Community. He is Commended for ‘a lifetime contribution to the Prison Service’ and for the excellence and ‘magic touch’ of his recent contribution to TC Plus, a new enhanced unit for prisoners with learning difficulties.
COMMENDEE 2018-19: Chris is the Business Engagement Manager at HMP & YOI Hatfield. He is Commended for the dedication, skill, and inspiration he brings to training the men in his care, and in forging employment opportunities for them, as well as for pioneering a successful prison farm shop called ‘Thyme Served’.
COMMENDEE 2018-19: Marie is a Behavioural Change Officer at HMP Low Moss. She is Commended for the integrity and compassion with which she has singlehandedly developed and led ‘Talking Heads’, a support group giving often vulnerable prisoners a chance to ‘take their mask off’ to safely explore difficult issues.
COMMENDEE 2018-19: Lesley is the Managing Chaplain at HMP & YOI Send. She receives a Commendation for creating ‘an army of volunteers’ – equivalent to over half a dozen extra staff – to support the women prisoners at Send and after their release, and for her pioneering work creating the ‘Managing Connections’ mentoring initiative.
