Nominations Process

A nomination has two elements (you can download the relevant forms by clicking on the links):

  • An initial recommendation from a colleague (ideally other than the Local Champion), prisoner/detainee, or member of the public; AND
  • supporting documentation completed by the Local Champion, and signed off by the Governor/Director.

Do complete the forms electronically if you can – it is best to download them first to ensure they save properly. And please use the official forms where possible, (though we can accept (initial) recommendations from prisoners/residents in other formats).

Please make sure that anyone quoted in the supporting documentation is aware that nominations are shared with the nominee, and published online if they win an Award or Commendation – and please ensure any names of prisoners/residents in a nomination are anonymised.

Also, please complete a nomination on all recommendations, even if you don’t think they’re likely to win. Being nominated shows people their efforts have not gone unnoticed, and we write to them whatever the outcome.

Note: The deadline for each year’s Awards is 30th June. We may be able to grant a short extension if you are having trouble completing everything in time, but that must be approved before the deadline – so if you think you may need an extension please let us know asap.
